Biography
Daria Yashkina is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Sociology at Karazin University in Kharkiv. She teaches courses in gender studies and has participated in international research projects as a junior researcher. They include Risk and Crisis Management Education for a Safer Ukraine (SAFE Ukraine); Gender Studies and War Challenges in Resilience of Universities in Ukraine: Networking for Excellence in Teaching and Institutional Development; and Gender Education for Foreign Students (UNESCO). In 2023, she defended her dissertation on Solo-Living Lifestyle in the Context of (Post)Modernity. She was a researcher at the University of Ghent (Belgium) as part of the Eureast Platform in 2024.
Since October 2024, she has been a fellow the the Ukraine Research Network@ZOiS.In her research at ZOiS she examines how universities and research institutes in frontline areas preserve human capital, which motivates researchers and teachers not to leave them and continue to work despite the difficult circumstances. Her case study is the city of Kharkiv.
