"Moving Russia(ns): Intergenerational Transmission of Memories Abroad and at Home (MoveMeRU)”
FAQ in other languages: auf Deutsch – на русском языке – Eesti keeles – en français
MoveMeRU is a research project conducted by the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS). We are an independent and publicly funded research institute in Berlin, Germany. The data is collected in cooperation with our local partners in Canada (Léger), Estonia (IBS) and Germany (dimap). The aim of MoveMeRU is to understand the intergenerational transmission of historical views between people with migratory backgrounds and those without. The research focuses on Germany, Estonia, and Canada with a specific interest in the Russian-background population. Participants get questions about political and social norms, historical events, and the relevance of historical and political topics within their families.
You can find more information about the research, including its goals and the researchers involved, on our project website. More detailed information about the survey component is provided here. We also inform about our research on Instagram. Take a look and feel free to get in touch with us.

Yes, your participation in the survey is entirely voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you can simply click the "NO" button at the start of the survey. Additionally, you have the right to withdraw from the study at any time. You can do this by closing your browser window. Any data collected up to that point will be deleted.
Once we have collected data, researchers from the MoveMeRU project team will start analysing it to produce a report that will be available on our webpage. In the years to come we will then explore your responses in more detail to write scientific papers, share our findings with the media and policy makers.
The dataset which includes your anonymised data will at some point be uploaded to an online repository called "Discuss Data" so that they can be used by other researchers. Since we do not collect any personal data, any responses that are shared cannot be linked to you as an individual.
