Research Trip to Estonia
In October, Hakob Matevosyan and Johanna Mogwitz travelled to Estonia to explore how the theme of historical memory transmission is situated within Estonian society. This preliminary exploration laid the groundwork for the forthcoming data collection phase. Their programme included meetings and briefings with academics as well as representatives of ministries, foundations, the media, a museum, public figures and an activist.
Hakob and Johanna’s exploration went beyond the confines of the capital Tallinn, extending to the university town of Tartu and Narva in the east of the country.
They also met with the project’s Estonian local partners from the Institute for Baltic Studies in Tartu to kick off the preparatory phase for the survey research.
The trip was an important first exchange with local partners - an exchange that we will continue and expand in the coming years.
