The Centre for Eastern European and International Studies is looking for a

a student assistant (m/f/d)

The Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) is an independent, international, publicly funded research institute. It focuses on foundational and policy-relevant academic research on Eastern Europe and shares the results with policymakers, the media, and the broader public.

We are looking for support in the research cluster "Political economy and integration".

Tasks:

  • Literature, media and background research.
  • Support with publications
  • Support with the transcription of interviews
  • Support in the preparation and implementation of events

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled at a university in Germany
  • At least two completed university semesters
  •  Studies in political science, social science or economics
  • Proficient in the use of Office software; knowledge of quantitative methods and/or social network analysis and/or Python for extracting data is desirable, but not a prerequisite
  •  Interest in China's trade and investment policy, especially in relation to Eastern Europe and Central Asia and other research topics of the research cluster "Political Economy and Integration"  and/or the political economy of Russia and the sociology of Russia’s political and economic elite
  • Very good knowledge of English; good knowledge of Russian, Kazakh and/or Uzbek is desirable, but not a prerequisite
  • Independent, precise and reliable work

The working time is 39 hours per month within the framework of a marginal employment (556€). The position is to be filled preferably on May 1, 2025 and is initially limited to twelve months. An extension is intended.
