Gulag and Labour Camps
How are the horrors of the Gulag reflected in literature and scholarship? In the final event of our series Writing History on 3 April, 2025, we focus on the experiences of survivors of the Soviet camp system and examine the role of personal and collective memory in processing these traumatic histories.
With journalist and author Viktor Funk (Wir verstehen nicht, was geschieht) and Eastern Europe historian Felicitas Fischer von Weikersthal, we discuss how literature and academic research contribute to keeping these memories alive.
